What is a car club?

Car clubs are a method of car sharing, allowing members to have easy access to cars when and where they want them, without the hassle and expense of ownership or leasing. They are already popular in Europe and America and, with Streetcar, they're now taking off in the UK too.

What is a Streetcar for business account?

This is one account held by your business, under which employees can then register as drivers. Although each employee holds their own Streetcard and can book independently, all usage is charged monthly in one itemised and consolidated invoice to your business.

Will Streetcar save my business money?

Yes, Streetcar can be a great alternative to company and pool cars, taxis and traditional hire cars. Not only will you save on the cost of the vehicle itself, but also on the cost of your administrational resource. Can Streetcar free my employees from company car tax?

Yes. Streetcar use doesn't get taxed in the same way that a company car would. Employees would only be taxed on the amount actually spent on driving a Streetcar.

How do I open an account?

Just send us your company details using this form, we'll give you a call back, and can have your account open that same day.

Registering Drivers

Who is eligible to join Streetcar?

To join Streetcar, employees must be aged between 21 and 75 and have held a valid driving licence for at least 12 months, or aged between 19 and 21 and have held a valid driving licence for at least 24 months. They must also have had no more than 1 accident in which an insurance claim was made in the last 3 years. We will also ask them about any endorsements and convictions that they may have. If you have any concerns about eligibility then do not hesitate to call us on 0845 644 8475. We are also very happy to incorporate your own restrictions when registering drivers onto your account.

What if they do not have a UK licence?

No problem, when they fill in their details on the registration form and submit them we will send an email asking for a copy of their driving licence and photo proof of identification. When we receive these details in, we will call them to complete their registration.

How simple is the sign up process?

Very! As soon as they fill in their details on our registration form we receive them and call them back within 24 hours. This call will contain a quick conference call with the DVLA (for UK licence holders) to confirm licence details. The call takes just 5 minutes, and then we send their smartcard out in the post and an email with their membership details. Once they have these they're all ready to go and free to use any one of our fleet of cars or vans.

What will you do with our details?

Do not worry, we will never pass on any of the details given to us to any 3rd party.

Booking

How do employees make bookings?

Over the internet, using this site, or by phone on 0845 644 8475.

How long before trips can we book?

A booking takes about 60 seconds to reach the car.

How far in advance of trips can we make a booking?

As much as 6 months.

What if the first choice of car we want is usually booked?

We monitor bookings carefully to prevent this problem. If a particular car is in frequent demand, we'll add another in the same area as soon as the need becomes clear.

How and when can we cancel bookings?

You can cancel or change a booking up to 1 hour before the start of the booking, either online or over the phone. There is no charge for this. Less than 1 hour before the booking starts and during the booking, you will be charged for the full booking.

Streetcards

Can anyone else use our Streetcards?

No. Only registered drivers are insured to use Streetcars, and as a result any non-members may be open to prosecution by the police for driving without insurance. Registered employees can drive on each other's bookings, however, we suggest for your own booking controls that employees always book under their own names.

What do we do if we lose a Streetcard?

Contact us immediately on 0845 644 8475 so we can cancel your old card and issue you with a new card. The business account will be charged £10 for this.

Billing

How will I be invoiced?

Consolidated invoices will be sent to your nominated email address on the 1st of every month. Along with this, there will be a detailed itemisation of the registered drivers' car usage.

After a 5-day grace, in which any queries should be raised, the invoice amount will be taken from the company credit card we hold on record. We can also arrange payment on invoice, if this is more suitable.
